St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School, Ballyhagan

50 Year Anniversary

During the week of Monday 7th April to Friday 11th April 2025, the entire school community celebrated our momentous 50th anniversary with a series of events to celebrate the milestone. The events were,

  1. Commissioning and completing a whole school art project where every child in school contributed to the final pieces. Both art pieces are now permanently on display at the school and will act as a reminder of the events.
  2. Arranging for a visit from an actual real relic of St. Oliver Plunkett, thanks to Jim Garvey and Jim Lee of the Knights of Columbanus;
  3. Taking part in St. Oliver Plunkett Art Competition for P5, P6 and P7;
  4. Celebrating a 50 Year Commemoration Mass with Archbishop Eamon Martin on Monday 7th April;
  5. Showcasing a 50 year photographic and memorabilia exhibition in the Stonebridge Pastoral Centre;
  6. Hosting a P5 blitz for over 160 P5 pupils from our partner schools on Wednesday 9th April; and finally,
  7. To round the events all off, enjoying a 70s themed fun day in school with bouncy castles, pop-up tuck shop, 70s disco, 70s themed fancy dress and of course an ice cream treat for each and every child in school!
