50 Year Anniversary

During the week of Monday 7th April to Friday 11th April 2025, the entire school community celebrated our momentous 50th anniversary with a series of events to celebrate the milestone. The events were,
- Commissioning and completing a whole school art project where every child in school contributed to the final pieces. Both art pieces are now permanently on display at the school and will act as a reminder of the events.
- Arranging for a visit from an actual real relic of St. Oliver Plunkett, thanks to Jim Garvey and Jim Lee of the Knights of Columbanus;
- Taking part in St. Oliver Plunkett Art Competition for P5, P6 and P7;
- Celebrating a 50 Year Commemoration Mass with Archbishop Eamon Martin on Monday 7th April;
- Showcasing a 50 year photographic and memorabilia exhibition in the Stonebridge Pastoral Centre;
- Hosting a P5 blitz for over 160 P5 pupils from our partner schools on Wednesday 9th April; and finally,
- To round the events all off, enjoying a 70s themed fun day in school with bouncy castles, pop-up tuck shop, 70s disco, 70s themed fancy dress and of course an ice cream treat for each and every child in school!

Thank You To Our Generous Sponsors
A chairde, you may recall we asked for sponsorship for the 50th Anniversary celebrations last April/May and we were overwhelmed by the outstanding support shown. We have created the small cards (shown here) that will be included in the final commemorative booklet and (thanks to my own forgetfulness and lack of in depth local geography knowledge!!!) would like you all to take one last look at the card before it is sent to the printers to be included in the book.
Please look for the following;
- Has your card been included?
- Is the townland/street name correct? and
- Are the names of any of your children who are currently attending school (or have done so in the past) shown correctly?
We will of course make any changes required as soon as you contact us to let us know. Otherwise, we will send these off to be included in the final booklet on Friday 10th October. Apologies if there are any errors/omissions but we will rectify them as instructed.
Míle buíochas,
Mr. Galvin

We invited the P5 teams from a collection of local schools to come along and take part in our 50th Anniversary Blitz. There were over 180 pupils present on the day and thanks to our wonderful Friends of St. Oliver Plunkett's PTA, each and every child received an individual goodie bag and medal to mark the occasion.

To finish the week off in style, we enjoyed a 70s themed fancy dress and fun day in the school on the Friday. There were ice cream treats, a 70s playlist, fancy dress parade, who school YMCA dance routine and plenty of in-class 70s themed lessons and activities. Overall - a thoroughly GROOOOOVVVVVVYYYYYY day indeed!
