WellBeing Team & School Council
In what was a very busy first term for both our Well-Being team and School Council, a clear theme emerged in the feedback from their class peers that the boys and girls would love more opportunities to take part in after-school Art clubs and creative activities. Our younger pupils also mentioned that they would like more time take part in PDMU and friendship building activities and so, having worked closely with groups, the school is delighted to be supported by the PTA in launching the following two initiatives for Term 2 and beyond.
1. For our P1 and P2/3 classes - we now have RelaxKidz coming in on a weekly basis to work with our younger pupils on developing healthy, positive mindsets and learning how to be a good friend to others as well as looking after our own happiness! And,
2. For our P4-P7 classes we have sourced and secured the services of the wonderful Sinead Campbell at the Art&Design Factory. These sessions provide our pupils with a combination time, space and a calming opportunity to express their ideas, thoughts and emotions through the medium of art.
Bu utilising these art and design sessions, which compliment and align with the work of our Art Counsellor in school too, we can now (thanks to the brilliant support of the PTA who fund these programmes) offer space and time to all pupils in St. Oliver Plunkett's to breath, relax, think about their emotional state whilst also expressing themselves in a medium that is attainable and accessible to every child!
Needless to say, we are indebted to the PTA for their wonderfully kind support and we hope to offer a few of these art sessions in the near future to our extended families to allow them to also engage in this wonderful activity!
Keep you eyes peeled for some of this wonderful artwork going up on display in the coming days and weeks around the school.
