Primary 1/2 Visit Armagh Fire Station
As part of of World Around Us topic, Primary1/2 paid a visit to Armagh Fire Station to consolidate our learning about the Fire and Rescue Service.
The children were brought to the fire station by a lovely bus driver - another member of the community who helps us.
At the fire station we were met by Firefighter Kevin and two of his team. They discussed fire safety and let the children see a mini movie called Frances and the FireFly.
After this, we went to the Boot Room to see the uniforms and helmets. Two of the firefighters demonstrated how they get changed in the event of an emergency and explained how each piece of uniform keeps them safe.
We then explored the fire engine itself. We looked at the tools and hoses and Firefighter Kevin explained what each thing was used for. The children then had the opportunity to sit inside the fire engines and pretend they were mini firefighters.
Next was the super fun part! Each child had the chance to turn the hose on and spray some water.
To end of the day, the children were invited to sit inside the Fire Land Rover.
