We were delighted to welcome the family members of our P3 yeargroup into school to launch our Paired Reading programme for the 3rd term. This initiative is designed to build on the excellent progress made to date by the readers in our P3 classes and provide them with an additional platform with which to further develop their confidence and fluency with reading, all whilst enjoying some quality one-to-one reading time with their family member.
Mr. Cullen explained how the programme works to those in attendance on the day and was able to provide a practical demonstration of the methods used to engage, encourage and help develop the young reader.
We were also delighted to set out a 'sharing library' of a vast array of fiction and non-fiction books that attendees were able to select books from to take away and get the programme up and running without delay.
The 'sharing library' desk is now positioned outside Mr. Cullen's room and parents/guardians can visit it any morning or evening. We look forward to celebrating the success of the programme by the end of Term 3.
