P6/7 set up the Sensory Garden 🦋
P6 and P7 have given the Sensory Garden a much needed make over. They drew plans of the garden and created designs to optimise the space and beauty of this quiet, garden area of the school playground. The new Sensory Garden now provides a reflective area where children may come to listen to the gentle chimes or watch the calming movements of the kites as they move in the breeze.
The area also doubles up as an outdoor classroom where classes can read quietly in a quiet and serene space. The children also have set up a percussion corner where children can explore the sounds made by different wooden and metal instruments.
The Sensory Garden has proved extremely popular, so much so that the classes are now timetabled to use the space with a hard working band of P6/7 monitoring usage and tidying the garden on a Friday.
