P6 and P7 have been practising every day for the Carol Service on the 13th December. They learned the origins of the beautiful Christmas Carol, Stille Nacht or Silent Night which was written by Austrian, Franz Gruber. The children read War Game by Michael Foreman which tells the story of the unofficial ceasefires along the Western Front of World War 1 at Christmas 1914. We were fascinated to learn that the German soldiers sang Stille Nacht from their trenches and that the British soldiers sang along with them.
We also love playing Away in a Manger and Jingle Bells!
