As part of the ongoing Shared Education programme with Derryhale PS, P6 and P7 took part in Armagh City’s, Morning on the Hill tour. We met with our friends from Derryhale in St. Patrick’s Cathedral where we learned about the history of the Cathedral and had an opportunity to look around the beautiful building and to take photographs of its stained glass windows. The children will meet again after the half term break to look at their photographs and to investigate the colour and shapes of the windows. They will then create their own stained glass windows.
The second part of the tour was a fascinating visit to St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral. We learned about the history of this ancient place of worship and had a visit to the Cathedral’s burial crypt. Again the children had opportunities to walk around and to photograph the beautiful windows.
