Irish News School Trip to Croke Park winners!
In June 2017, St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School was one of the five winners of the School Trip to Croke Park Initiative. Everyone in the school was involved with the collecting of the tokens from the Irish News newspaper. 31 pupils from Primary 4 - 7 attended Croke Park along with Mr McKee, Mr Cullen and Mrs McCann.
Children got to see the team changing rooms, the indoor warm up area and the after match players lounge. They had a tour of the stadium including participating in a run-out from the tunnel. They also got to watch video clips of key championship games in Croke Park from both Men and Women's Gaelic Football as well as Hurling and Camogie games.
The children had the pleasure of meeting Conor Mc Manus, County Monaghan Ulster Senior Football Championship winner and All Star winner.
Pupils had photographs taken pitch side and in the upper deck of the Hogan Stand. This was followed by a wonderful lunch in the 5* Croke Park Hotel.
The atmosphere was electric just like on real All Ireland Final Days.
The rest of the school got to celebrate with a party back at school. A great day was had by all.
