Both our boys’ and girls’ teams performed heroics recently at the Armagh Pearse Óg Primary Schools blitz held in Ballycrummie. Competing against teams from over 10 other schools, our teams played fantastically well and both made it into their respective Cup finals.
First up were the girls who, despite playing against a very strong breeze, played fantastically well and their final went to extra time with a golden score being used to determine the winners. Unfortunately, the girls were unable to get the score they needed and the CBS team pipped them to the win by grabbing the all important golden score. It goes without saying however that everyone connected to the school is immensely proud of the girls’ efforts and we are really excited to see how this very talented bunch of footballers performs throughout the rest of the year.
In the boys’ section we were represented by two teams chosen from our P5-P7 classes. Not to be outdone by our girls, both of the boys’ teams performed brilliantly throughout the group stages and qualified for the cup semi-finals. Unfortunately both of our teams were drawn to play each other in the semi-finals and in the end our Team 2 made it through to play the CBS in the final. A close game ensued and despite their best efforts the lads were unlucky to lose out in the final. Yet again however, we couldn’t be prouder or happier with how everyone performed on the day and we can’t wait until after Christmas when the Cumann and mBunscol Spring league will kick off and we get back out again.
