P6/7 visited Gilfresh Farm as part of the Farm To Fork programme designed by Gilfresh to teach children about the farming process involved in growing, harvesting and processing their food.
As part of the tour, the children were able to observe a carrot harvester at work. They then watched cauliflower and cabbages being harvested by hand. Afterwards, the children visited the factory where they saw the carrots sorted, sized and washed.
Everyone left with a much better appreciation of the processes involved in the production of our food.
