Education Consultant, Kate O Hanlon, visited the school on the evening of 18th September 2017. The event was very well attended with parents, teachers and governors from St Oliver Plunkett’s P.S and Derryhale P.S joining together to listen to Kate and to participate in the evening.
Kate spoke to the parents about the three modes of literacy; reading, writing and talking and listening. She reiterated the importance of reading to our children and talking to them using appropriate language and vocabulary. Kate also discussed the over use of technology and her theory that it could possibly impinge on the developing brain.
The discussion was lively and informative and we have received much positive feedback.
