After reading the story of The Little Red Hen, the pupils in Primary 1 decided to help Mrs McKee bake our own bread. Each child made a list of ingredients in their literacy books. We then measured out the ingredients to make the mixture. This was baked in the oven. The children were able to see how the heat changed the mixture from a sticky creation to a loaf of bread - perfectly timed with Science Week. Pupils then got to add butter, jam or both to a slice of home-made bread. They all decided it was delicious!
