Apple Production in Co. Armagh 🍏🍎
P6 and P7 are currently investigating apple growing in the Orchard County. This is the time of the year when local orchards are busy with apple pullers harvesting the famous Bramley apples which are then exported far and wide.
We were very lucky to welcome local apple farmer, Pat Mc Keever into our classroom to talk to us about apple growing. Pat brought delicious apple juice and told us how apples are grown, looked after and pulled.
We also took part in the Apple Programme, from Source to Supermarket at the Palace Stables in Armagh. Here we learned about what happens to the apples once they are harvested and along the way met some colourful Georgian characters!
