As part of our continued Area Learning Community partnership with St. Peter's Collegelands, St. John's Kingsisland and Sacred Heart P.S., the Rock, we were able to offer our P7 pupils in each school a transition themed workshop in conjunction with the AmmA Centre Armagh.
Declan Carville, a local children's author, was able to visit each school and deliver the workshop with the boys and girls exploring the themes of moving on and settling into new surroundings. The pupils were thrilled to get the chance to speak with Declan and question him on the process of authoring your own book.
Thankfully, we were also able to invite Declan into our P5 and P6 classes to share ideas and stories from his books and spark the curiosity in our pupils for writing their own stories. To finish up the workshop, the pupils were delighted to bring Declan out into our new reading corner and fairy gardens and he was massively impressed with our fabulous outdoor learning space.
Hopefully this is the first of many more workshops and learning opportunities for our pupils as part of the new schools' partnership.
